A Day in the Life of a Mom-Herbalist

This daily blog has been about the struggles of juggling motherhood with being a full-time student for the first eight months of its existence.  I still share some of my life now that I've graduated but I also share information each day on herbs that I've learned along this journey.   While my herbariums are listed for free membership, I provide four fields from them in my blog: Constituents (the active ingredients of the herbs), the therapeutic actions (Examples are expectorant and stimulant), indications (colds, skin rashes, emphysema, etc), and safety information. More information can be found in the herbariums but these are the most important educational fields.  I also share scientific studies to help educate people who think there are no studies showing herbs work.

Membership to this site is free.

Breakfast is done.  My son has taken his nap.  Quite early I might add...  I have a question for you guys. I'm dong a raw  (living) food diet though I'm not completely switched over.  There are just some vegetables I don't like enough to eat raw...  Some nuts are also processed and there is no such thing as eating raw flax seed unless you want to get sick.  So within reason...  In doing so, I'm also creating recipes for dressing for my salad.  Some things have worked, others have not. I know I tend to blog about life and herbs but is there an interest in me sharing my culinary exploration?  I do still cook for my kids.  I also have to cook my own broccoli until my thyroid is fixed.  I think the squash is in the same boat.  I need to look at that list again.  The universe interceded on my feeding eggs to my kids so that's off the menu.  Three times I tried to go get some, three times something happened to prevent it.  I shall listen.  Bad things happen when you don't.  I added a 5-day colon cleanse last night and a 30-day probiotic.  With eating fresh food, I don't think either will need to be extended but we shall see.  With such energetic kids, I need to get ME in order!  Love and Light!

There are no new actions to discuss for mullein.  Tomorrow I'll get into the constituents.

Constituents: glycosides (aucubin), flavinoids and saponin. Petersen 92018) says mucilage, gum, saponins, Flavonoids (hesperidin and verbascoside), glycoside (aucubin), traces of essential oil. Yellow pigments, phosphoric acid, mineral salts, volatile oil, tannin, wax, and verbascose (an antiseptic) (p. 133). Chevallier (2016) says mucilage, triterpenoid saponins, volatile oil, and tannins (p. 281).

Have a Great Day!

These pages are also linked on the Herbal Lists page but this is the list of things that get discussed more frequently so I added the link here.
