A Day in the Life of a Mom-Herbalist

This daily blog has been about the struggles of juggling motherhood with being a full-time student for the first eight months of its existence.  I still share some of my life now that I've graduated but I also share information each day on herbs that I've learned along this journey.   While my herbariums are listed for free membership, I provide four fields from them in my blog: Constituents (the active ingredients of the herbs), the therapeutic actions (Examples are expectorant and stimulant), indications (colds, skin rashes, emphysema, etc), and safety information. More information can be found in the herbariums but these are the most important educational fields.  I also share scientific studies to help educate people who think there are no studies showing herbs work.

Membership to this site is free.

It's been a busy day but I haven't gotten much done.  Turns out my sister had sent a few text messages and I never saw them!  We had a great talk.  It's always good to hear from family.  I only have 2 family members that call but that's okay.  I know the phone works both ways and I just get so busy I don't think of anything but this long check-list of things that need my attention.  I went through my You Tube subscription list today and deleted all the ones who talk about nothing but news. There is too much negativity and I want positivity.  There were a few that I second guessed myself on because I really like those channels but I made a commitment to myself and had to follow through.  Some channels talk about news and health so I kept those.  I went to the store and carried my daughter after my son went to sleep for his nap.  She has a sore on her toe, must have stepped on something and refuses to leave a bandaid on so I got some liquid bandaid for her.  I didn't want to take her because she couldn't wear shoes but then he fell asleep so it worked out.  Dinner is cooking in the crockpot.  I had to put it on high because of how late I got it going but all is well there.  The kids had a late lunch thanks to that early nap.  I still need to fold laundry and put the blanket in the washer into the dryer.  My son wanted to know what would happen when he poured orange juice on the blanket yesterday... He discovered it would result in a wet blanket that he wasn't allowed to play with.  My first quiz for Toxicology didn't go well last night either.  I didn't realize the class has that "only take once" thing going on with quizzes and I took it while preparing dinner and with very hungry kids last night.  In other words, there was no concentration and i don't know my final grade because of the essay question but I know it's not a good one.  It read 4 out of 20 and I think the essay is worth 10 points. It could end up being an OK grade but we'll see... Time to get off here and get the laundry finished, if that's even possible. Love and Light!!

On to the constituents of fenugreek!

Arginine is one of the amino acids that are a precursor to pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA) (Ganora, 2009, p. 157).

Histadine is the precursor to histamine (Ganora, 2009, p. 102).

Constituents: 4-hydroxyisoleucine, the alkaline trigonelline,

Have a Great Day!
