A Day in the Life of a Mom-Herbalist

This daily blog has been about the struggles of juggling motherhood with being a full-time student for the first eight months of its existence.  I still share some of my life now that I've graduated but I also share information each day on herbs that I've learned along this journey.   While my herbariums are listed for free membership, I provide four fields from them in my blog: Constituents (the active ingredients of the herbs), the therapeutic actions (Examples are expectorant and stimulant), indications (colds, skin rashes, emphysema, etc), and safety information. More information can be found in the herbariums but these are the most important educational fields.  I also share scientific studies to help educate people who think there are no studies showing herbs work.

Membership to this site is free.

The constituents of alfalfa are done so there will be a new herb tomorrow.

The kids are eating breakfast. The things that were due this week are done and I'm working on next week's assignments.  I'm shooting for Saturday to finish them all up.  Wish me luck!  I'll have to work on a new herbarium in that time frame as well since I will start the last one I have prepared tomorrow.  Alfalfa is far more nutrient them medicine but it's still great information. I'm going to keep this short and get my breakfast eaten so I can get to work.

I decided to add the documents for the constituents, side effects, nutrients, and indications to the side bar on this page.  It will make the Herbal List page easier to use and put this information right here and easier to find.  Let me know your thoughts! Love and Light!

On to the constituents of alfalfa!

Polyphyrins: These are needed for hemoglobin function. They bind iron and escort oxygen to the various tissues of the body. Too much can be a problem (Mayo Clinic). (Alfalfa)

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid): Helps synthesize coenzyme-A and metabolize carbs and fat.

Vitamin B7 (Biotin): This vitamin (formerly called Vitamin H) is a coenzyme (R) and is great for hair and skin (Alfalfa).

Have a Great Day!

These pages are also linked on the Herbal Lists page but this is the list of things that get discussed more frequently so I added the link here.
