A Day in the Life of a Mom-Herbalist

This daily blog has been about the struggles of juggling motherhood with being a full-time student for the first eight months of its existence.  I still share some of my life now that I've graduated but I also share information each day on herbs that I've learned along this journey.   While my herbariums are listed for free membership, I provide four fields from them in my blog: Constituents (the active ingredients of the herbs), the therapeutic actions (Examples are expectorant and stimulant), indications (colds, skin rashes, emphysema, etc), and safety information. More information can be found in the herbariums but these are the most important educational fields.  I also share scientific studies to help educate people who think there are no studies showing herbs work.

Membership to this site is free.

Yesterday went much smoother.  Today I plan to work on the house a bit.  I'll work on herbariums today at some point but I want to get these floors washed and start working on the bathroom.  It will take time because it's become a storage place so I need to rewash the clothes and either put them in the shed or donate them.  Lots of organizing and cleaning needs to be done.  Yes, my 2 weeks off from school is not spent relaxing.  I'm still busy, just not with meeting the deadlines of my teachers.  Right now I'm waiting for my friend to let me know when she gets home so I can go get my truck inspected.  I also need to pick up my brother-in-law's hat.  I took a look at the constituents that I'll talk about tomorrow since 3 of them were listed in the actions section because that's how Petersen does it and I will talk about 2 again because she added some information then I'll update the list.  I'm going to end this here and see if I can get the floors done, at the very least, I should be able to do the bathroom floor.  The rest may need to wait until nap time.

On to the actions of Blessed Thistle.  There is only one I have not discussed yet but it's really just another way of saying one I have.

Antidiarrheal stops diarrhea (I know, self explanatory).  This would likely be useful if you suffer irritable bowel syndrome.

Constituents: Sesquiterpese lactone glycosides (cnicin, polyacetylene, absinthin), triterpenoids (alpha-amyrenone, alpha-amyrin acetate, alpha amyrine, multiflorenol acetate), lignans (trachelogenin, arctigenin, nortracheloside), flavonoids, polyenes, tannins, and essential oils (para-cymene, fenchon, citral, cinnamaldehyde) (Petersen, 2018, p. 170).

Have a great day!

These pages are also linked on the Herbal Lists page but this is the list of things that get discussed more frequently so I added the link here.
